In a primordial time, there were three of them.
One could hunt, gather plants and make tools and
weapons for the acquisition of food.
The second could build sturdy shelters and knew
the secret of fire.
The third could sing the other two to sleep, and
cause them to dream the world of the next day, where
there were animals for meat, plants that bore fruit,
and material for shelter from the elements.
However, the third could not dream the world into
being. This was for the others.
And the others could not dream their dreams without
the songs of the third.
So, unknown to themselves, they required each other
absolutely. The third needed the first two for food
and shelter and warmth, and for the dreams of the
others that he sang into being that made the world.
The second needed the others for food and to dream
the world into being. And the first needed both
the dream and shelter.
The first two failed to value the third because
he had only one gift, and that one of little apparent
practical use. The third valued the others for their
gifts, but was not yet aware that his song, through
the others, made the world and sustained all three.
